This vocabulary decides what a loss costs. The water category determines what gets removed, the smoke residue type determines how it is cleaned, and the mold sublimit determines how much your policy pays. Here are the terms, defined plainly. The distinction matters because it changes what the work actually is, and therefore what it costs.
